Hey everybody, and welcome to a new episode of start up brand on aisle. You're a podcast show with start up news and interviews from Germany. Hello and welcome again to start up rate ioh, your new source from Germany, Europe and the world. Today we are going to bring you the February News. I therefore have a guest here in sunny Germany, Hallo Filia. How are you doing? Good, how are you? I'm doing awesome. Thanks for our listeners. We just recording this a beautiful, beautiful sunny Saturday morning here in Germany. So philly, I found some news for you. At first, where was for me very interesting was alternative online finance methods such as crowd funding and php a loans, could chop up to seven billion years across the European Union in two thousand and fifteen. According to a report published in February. The zexter crew by one hundred forty four percent, two nearly three...

...billion in twenty fourteen. Then I've been I've been reading on the German start up log dodcher startups. Dodger Burza, the which is the German stock exchange in Frankfort, plans to a platform till summer for startups. They are going to avoid the trouble of the infamous Nyamak, which boomed and buster quachpectacular during thecom boom. The platform will not be a segment like the know, a marked worse, but it's rather a platform where startups investors can exchange ideas and numbers and kind of sniff out the potential for the IPO. And last but not least, what I brought for you is in German eating there was a big merger and property platforms, so way you see grantal and stuff like that. There was a merger of number two and number three imoved and Imonette to rival the number one and will be in Scout fienspansi point the e reports Condescina.

Is that good or bad news? Like, how how big should one platform be? Well, usually it's it's neither good nor bad news. It depends on the rest of the market, because you do have always a big disadvantage if you have less than five firms in competition. It's something everybody almost knows from their cell phone providers, because if you have not enough players on the market, there's there's not this this goofy guy us. As I can make a cheap or I can make it yeah, better, but it's everybody. Yeah, they just going along and someone is raising the prices and then everybody else I oh yeah, well, also, let's raise the prices. It's like just an argument when you have three or five people on the table there your friends and you talk to them and it's as every time that everybody agrees. If it's the same structure and then you don't have this like discussions with twenty people, then you don't have this annoying person who always says,...

...oh no, no, no, no, I totally disagree with that. I can do differently, and that is something you've already researched in economics. Okay, so what did you find in Germany's interesting so what happened is that? How is the person of the rockets in use? I Guess Nest Pick launched a couple of months ago in the Netherlands and now jumped over to Germany, where people say it's a air being be clone, which is actually not true, because rocket already had them do as the air being be clone. And however, what it is is mid term rental. So instead of short term rental, which would be for vacations and long term rental, which is be like common living. It's for mostly for students who stay in a city for a semester broad or something. That's say like six months or something. So that's defined as in the term, and other players such as uni places and yeah, when I've let have already entered that market, and now rocket jumped in with nestick and they started in Germany and it was first mean they...

...play the precess they do, but then side is figured out and we're going to put that link into on the website for vert to read. They tested it and they figured out that the company tries to scale very fast as as it does, but doesn't really have for the right images and star like photographs for it, and so there's some some debatable stuff going on for everybody nut from Germany. To put this in perspective, sid is something like the very big weekly newspaper here in Germany. It's I think it's in existence since almost a second world war, and they do have they deliver you a huge newspaper, really meaning you need the whole week to read it, and it's very much in debt article. So it's usually a very respective source. That is not just like the goose. The goof ball was like the two of us. Also, rocket goes deeper and defended the food market, investing more money into hell of fresh and deliver here and delivery hero. Finally, they are...

...planning the IPO for two thousand and fifteen or two thousand and sixteen. Well, would say it's probably going to be late two thousand and fifteen. But to so January and early February were actually a huge and food markets and delivery, food and delivery pretty much anything to home. All right. What's getting bigger and bigger over here, not don't know, only over here, but on the Internet, seems to be buying glasses, where I myself come speaker to that all wear glasses. But Mr spects just raised forty million a couple of weeks ago and my optics acquired rocket nets up to go, which actually past for Bankocy and twenty leg and for two thousand fourteen and now really twenty four. Apart from having TV commercial, which is always big news for startups, they also started having offline stores in Hamburg, for of them to be correct, in Raven in supermarket, which is quite interesting because usually offline stores are going online. Right now, and this is an interesting this because now, unless theirs and go offline to acquire more uses exactly a jeff basis,...

...is, I think, pretty much known for wanting to open Amazon stores all over the world. I personally do wear glasses. It's maybe a side effect of working in front of screens for most all of my professional life, and I do admit I never thought about buying glasses online. I'm not too sure why, but it never came to my mind and still talking about it. It doesn't seems like a viable option. So maybe if they develop it a little bit better. I want to have a serious look into that. Well, I mean looking at Mr spects that there must be something. I mean, you don't just raise forty million for, you know, a couple of users. It might do. I do think they that they also have online commercial as a well. TV COMMERCIAL RATE M suspects. I don't know. I don't watch to be Oh, watch too much, so I'm filling started putting commercials on Netflix. I can I cannot talk about that something. Okay, I see. What else did you find? And what also happened is...

...that text stars opened an accelerator in Berlin. That is old news and out that. It now came out that they're cooperating with metal, which is a huge way. Watch that. What's the American thing for that? They brought the cash and carry system to Germany. Yeah, but it's like it's like it's super it's not like warm up, but larger. You need like a company card or something to get in there. It be to be shopping outlet way. You can only buy if you do have a business license. If I'm not even sure if it's an outlet, if you want to call it, because a lot of times it's okay, but whatever. Yeah, it's a huge, super large supermarket. And they teamed up with Text Stars and will start their accelerator program soon in Berlin, focusing on technology applications for restaurants, hotels and care catering services. I guess that that's interesting news. It's not. I mean it's at least an interesting sector that haven't been touched so...

...far. Yes, because, I mean it's, for me personally, Metro. I would have never associate the them with with any start up at all. And then they're starting with an accelerator, which is well, if if you're not from Germany, it sounds like okay, but if you're from Jerry, what they're doing bad. Yeah, but I think you know, everybody's teeming like all all the large companies are now into innovation and start up. Yeahai the understood that they are the big guys who are going to get in trouble pretty soon because they can't move a start a startup skin exactly. They are fraid of missing out. Also, for those who don't know yet, we are available on DUB DUB dubstart up raid dot ioh. We do have usually a big collection of links that did not make it into our news. We call it inserts. For those of wishing, it's usually studies, so aways, background material, background read. We also do have them for you as well. And, as you have noticed already, kiss is currently not...

...here. He is on vacation, and Alyssa's also not here because she's on a business trip in Asia. So DM, wrong time zone. MM. We do hope they are going to join us for March news again. Okay, Philly, anything to add? No, I guess it was a very short month. I mean also because of carnival, which is large. Yeah, German money ground. Last memories. Hi Fi. Yeah, it was just a very short month. I think the most important news happened in January actually, and now everybody's getting back to business. And next you know what's gonna it's gonna Happen next. Is What we're going to find out in the next episode. I do think March and April is going to be big again and for those people who don't know the German public holiday calendar, they are going to come up to Thursdays in May. They're going to be public holiday and usually everybody takes off on Friday. So in May there will be a little bit less business again. I love men, but meet you, but guys, look for what you are. March US thanks them, by BYE,...
